Palm Fibre Yarns Trading Company began its journey from basic infrastructure and hand-crafted fibre yarns that later, with the passing years and ever-changing faces of market dominance and consumer lenience, sortied into bringing finished goods made from natural fibres with unmatched quality and a distinct touch of traditional craftsmanship.

Mid 17th Century (1850’s)
The beginning of the coir industry in Alappuzha, Kerala.
It began with the use of coir yarn for making floor coverings.
1860’s
European companies like Volkarts, Pierce Leslie and Co, begin procuring coir yarn from Kerala
1940
Originally coconut farmers, V O Ouseph and sons started extracting coconut oil as a business and later diversified into spinning coir yarn.
1945
VO Ouseph established Palm Fibres & Yarns Trading Company, and started off by supplying coir yarn to European companies like Volkarts, Bombay Company and Aspinwall.
1963
Palm Fibre took over the factory of Bombay Company’s Factories in Alappuzha.
1965
Strategic alliance with Gover Horowitz and Blunt UK for exports of coir yarn to Europe.
1966
Palm Fibre takes over the factories of Volkart Brothers in Fort Kochi which included baling presses to cater to its orders in Europe.
1970
From manufacturing and exports of only coir yarn, Palm Fibre ventured into manufacturing coir products as well.
1980
Diversified into jute and various other natural fibre products
1987
Capacity augmentation, and a new factory set up in Alappuzha
1999
Further expansion, with the third and larger and state of the art 300,000 sq ft factory with in house facilities for yarn dyeing, printing, rubber moulding, packing to cater to its customers in the US and European markets.
2001
New corporate office in Alappuzha set up
2005
Facility to showcase products to buyers set up in Gurgaon, UP.
2022
Capacity enhancement, in Tamil Nadu with a new modern facility of 50,000 sq ft.
